A heavyweight bout between former UFC title challenger Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva and Soa Palelei has been added to UFC 190. The event is set to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and will be headlined by a women's bantamweight title bout between champion Ronda Rousey and Brazilian challenger Bethe Correia.
Bigfoot is in dire need of a win, having done 0-3 (1NC) in his last four UFC fights. His December 2013 draw against Mark Hunt was overturned to a no-contest after Silva tested positive for elevated testosterone levels after the fight. His most recent defeat came at the hands of former heavyweight champ Frank Mir at UFC Fight Night 61 in February. His last win was against former Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 champ Alistair Overeem when he pulled off a huge upset KO victory.
Palelei will enter the Octagon at UFC 190 off the back of a TKO win over Walt Harris. The Australian is currently 4-2 in the UFC and 22-4 overall in pro MMA. A win over #13-ranked Antonio should be enough to push Soa into the top 15 of the UFC's heavyweight division.
UFC 190 is set to take place on Saturday August 1st at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
