News broke yesterday that UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones tested positive for benzoylecgonine (the main metabolite in cocaine) in a random drug test issued by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) on December 4th - one month prior to his UFC 182 title defence against Daniel Cormier.
As a result of the positive test, Jones has entered a drug treatment facility. However, he has not received punishment from the NAC as benzoylecgonine is not banned out of competition under World Anti-Doping Agency rules.
Numerous fighters, MMA executives and others have offered their thoughts on the news, including UFC president Dana White, UFC commentator Joe Rogan and even Jones' UFC 182 opponent.
Cormier told MMAFighting.com: "I am aware of Jon's test, and if there is anything to say it is this: there are a lot of people you impact, so please let's get it together. Good luck on your rehab!"
After issuing an official statement yesterday, Jones has requested privacy for himself and his family.
