2015 was a stellar year for UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor, and there would be no better way for the Irishman to cap things off than by picking up one or more awards at the Eighth Annual Fighters Only World MMA Awards.
On January 1st it was announced that McGregor has been nominated for 'Fighter of the Year', 'Knockout of the Year' (vs. Jose Aldo, UFC 194) and 'International Fighter of the Year' at this year's WMMA event.Â
McGregor posted via Facebook: "Fighters Only MMA Awards, thank you for the nominations for Fighter of the Year, KO of the Year, International Fighter of the year. I will be in Las Vegas to attend the event and collect all my awards."
The Charles 'Mask' Lewis 'Fighter of the Year' award is the biggest award that can be bestowed upon an MMA fighter. This year, McGregor is up against Rafael dos Anjos, Luke Rockhold, Demetrious Johnson and Max Holloway for the award.
In the 'International Fighter' category, the Irish champ is up against Joe Duffy, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Liam McGeary and Marat Gafurov.
