The world wanted it and the MMA Gods have truly delivered.
Amid the craziness of UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi, UFC President Dana White confirmed Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will go head-to-head at UFC 244 in New York City as the event’s headline act.

Yes. That means we will get up to five rounds of pure badassery from two of the sport’s most celebrated antiheroes.
The news was broken by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto earlier today.
“This whole thing started to materialize last night,” said White.
“So last night, Diaz’s guys were going back and forth with us and we ended up getting it done.
“Masvidal is pumped for this fight, Diaz is pumped for this fight. I’m excited for it and I am sure the fans are very excited to see this.
“It will be the main event. Five rounds of Diaz vs. Masvidal at Madison Square Garden.”
The fight wasn’t on anyone’s radar until Diaz respectfully called out Masvidal following his win over Anthony Pettis at UFC 241.
Never one to shy away from a fight, Masvidal quickly registered his interest in fighting for what was coined as the “Baddest M**********r belt” by Diaz.
And White wants to genuinely create a belt for the title of BMF.
“I’m going to put together a ‘BMF’ belt for these two,” added White. “They can fight for the ‘BMF’ belt.”
Like Diaz, Masvidal is coming off a headline-making victory.
At UFC 239 in July, he broke UFC records when he knocked out Ben Askren with a flying knee in just five seconds, cementing his position as one of the sport’s most talked-about fighters.
UFC 244 takes place in New York’s Madison Square Garden on 2 November. We cannot wait for this one!
