It seems Brazilian striking extraordinaire Edson Barboza’s New Year Resolutions include dropping some weight.
According to Brazilian news outlet Combate, UFC veteran Barboza is hoping to begin competing as a featherweight in 2020.
Barboza has fought all his 22 UFC bouts at the 155-pound lightweight limit, notching a 14-8 record in the promotion.
His last fight saw him drop a contentious split decision in a rematch against Paul Felder, seeing him lose four of his last five bouts.
That being said, the names he lost to include dominant UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje and Kevin Lee in addition to Felder. His sole win in that run came against the dangerous Dan Hooker in December 2018.
Barboza has earned nine post-fight bonuses during his UFC tenure.
