Derrick Lewis wrote his name into the history books as the fighter with the most knockouts in UFC history with a first-round bludgeoning of Chris Daukaus at UFC Fight Night 199.
Fighting in the main event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Lewis managed to draw Daukaus into an exchange mid-way through the round, then unloaded a heavy-duty barrage of punches that separated his opponent from his senses at the 3:50 mark.
Lewis’ victory meant he set a new record for the most knockouts in UFC history with 13, passing Vitor Belfort and Matt Brown to stand alone at the top of the list.
He also notched his 17th UFC victory, putting him second in the all-time heavyweight wins list behind former champion Andrei Arlovski (21).

In the co-main event, Belal Muhammad scored the biggest win of his career after dominating two-time title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in their welterweight bout.
Muhammad did a superb job of closing the gap and stifling Thompson’s flashy striking, before dragging the action to the mat and dominating “Wonderboy” on the ground through each of the three five-minute rounds.
Such was Muhammad’s dominance, he earned multiple 10-8 scores across the three judges’ scorecards, with “Remember The Name” polling final scores of 30-25, 30-26, 30-26.

It was a big night for Brazilian strawweight contender Amanda Lemos, who edged a split decision after a thrilling three-round war with Angela Hill.
No. 11-ranked Lemos and No. 12-ranked Hill went back and forth in a toe-to-toe war that left the judges split in their final assessment of the matchup.
However, it was Lemos’ more weighty strikes that proved decisive as she ran out the split-decision winner with scores of 28-29, 30-27, 29-29 on the cards after a highly competitive affair.

It was also a big night for bantamweight contender Ricky Simon, who defeated longtime contender Raphael Assuncao via second-round knockout.
Simon looked to have the upper hand through Round 1, then drove home that advantage in Round 2 as he stunned Assuncao, then finished him with a follow-up shot against the cage to score a huge stoppage win and move himself into position to challenge elite opposition in 2022.

Elsewhere on the card, Mateusz Gamrot continued his rise up the UFC lightweight division with a second-round TKO finish of seasoned lightweight contender Diego Ferreira.
Former two-division KSW champion Gamrot has lost just once in his career – a split-decision loss to Guram Kutateladze – but the Pole showed his credentials with a strong showing against Ferreira as he outwrestled the Brazilian and enjoyed success on his feet.
The finish was somewhat unusual, however, as a knee to the ribs from behind caused Ferreira to grimace in pain and concede defeat.
It meant Gamrot notched his 20th career win and prompted him to call out former title challenger and ex-Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler for his next bout.

In the opening main card bout of the night, Cub Swanson produced a near-flawless performance to finish the notoriously tough Darren Elkins in their featherweight battle.
Swanson looked in the zone from the very start of the bout, as he kept out of range of Elkins’ takedown attempts.
Then, after gauging the range, “Killer Cub” went to work with his strikes and stung “The Damage” with some slick punches.
Knowing Elkins’ reputation as a fighter who has overcome adversity on numerous occasions in the past, Swanson gave his opponent due respect by not swarming in, looking for the finish. Instead, he stayed at range, waited his moment, then struck again, this time decisively.
More punches from the California native had Elkins in big trouble and, after Swanson stood back again, he unleashed a spinning heel kick that connected on his opponent’s chin to stun him once again. A single follow-up punch was all it took to convince Herb Dean to step in and wave off the fight.
