Bellator MMA’s return to London looks set to deliver a spectacular night at the OVO Arena, Wembley, with the promotion announcing a host of additional bouts for their May 13 fight card.
The event will be headlined by a battle for the Bellator welterweight title, as England’s own Michael “Venom” Page challenges undefeated Ukrainian champion Yaroslav Amosov for the 170-pound championship.
But Bellator’s matchmakers haven’t rested on their laurels. Instead they’ve stacked the deck with a card packed with talent that looks sure to entertain the fight fans in the English capital.
Tuesday saw the official addition of a co-main event, with former three-time Bellator champion Douglas Lima set to take on Jason Jackson in a battle between the number 2 and 3-ranked welterweight contenders.
Also added to the card is a women’s flyweight clash between former title challenger and Bellator kickboxing queen Denise Kielholtz and No. 4-ranked Japanese contender Kana Watanabe.
Scotland’s Robert Whiteford will also feature on the card in a battle of featherweight veterans as he takes on Germany’s two-time title challenger Daniel Weichel.
The main card will be opened by one of the stars of Bellator’s last visit to London, as English light heavyweight prospect Luke Trainer returns to action against Simon Biyong, while the preliminary card has been bolstered by another two matchups.
London Shootfighters lightweight Alfie Davis will take on UK MMA veteran Tim Wilde at 155 pounds, while former women’s flyweight title challenger Kate Jackson returns to action against Elina Kallionidou.
