Eagle FC bantamweight champion Renat Khavlov has set his sights on the top 135-pounders on the planet after claiming his latest victory for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s promotion.
Khavlov successfully defended his bantamweight title for the third time with a TKO victory over previously undefeated Ramazan Amaev at Eagle FC 48.
And the 24-year-old, who extended his perfect professional record to 6-0, issued a warning to the UFC bantamweight division by telling UFC president Dana White to prepare his bantamweight contenders for a new challenge.
“I had a great opponent. I’m grateful to him for this fight,” he said immediately after his win.
“I know he’s very strong, but we prepared for him. We prepare for every opponent. We train specifically or every opponent, find the keys to success, and this is the result.”
Khavlov said he was taking career advice from Khabib, and it seems the plan is to prepare him to head Stateside to progress his career to the world stage.
“Khabib gave a little praise, but I need to make it to America. I need to put in more work,” Khavlov explained.
“I’ll rest for a week or two, like Khabib said, then right back to the gym. I’m ready to go to America. I’m sure I’ll destroy everyone there.”
When it was suggested that Khavlov might need to embrace more trash talk or aggression in his interviews, he said that aspect of his personality will emerge in time.
“Little by little,” he smiled.
“Right now I’m proving everything in the cage. Later I can think about that. Right now I think I’m showing good fights.
“In conclusion, I’ll say Dana White – get your guys ready, I’ll come for them soon!”
