The UFC returns home to Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend as the T-Mobile Arena plays host to the latest pay-per-view extravaganza, UFC 279.
Topping the poster for the event is a welterweight non-title clash between surging contender Khamzat Chimaev and longtime fan-favourite and soon-to-depart UFC legend Nate Diaz, who will do battle in a bout that is expected to be Diaz’s final fling inside the octagon.
The co-main event also features welterweight action, with former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson looking to position himself for a possible run at the 170-pound title. He takes on Chinese contender Li Jingliang in a bout that looks set to deliver plenty of fireworks.
There’s also an eye-catching catchweight main card clash, as Kevin Holland takes on Daniel Rodriguez in a 180-pound matchup, while light heavyweight crowd-pleasers Johnny Walker and Ion Cutelaba will face off in a bout that surely won’t require the services of the octagonside judges.
Ahead of the event, the UFC’s “Embedded” cameras are following the fighters behind the scenes as they work their way through fight week, from their final moments at home to their arrival in Las Vegas and their media obligations before the weigh-ins and the final faceoffs before fight night itself.
As described on the UFC’s official YouTube channel, in Episode 4, “Darren Till arrives to train with Khamzat Chimaev. Tony Ferguson feels out the Octagon. Daniel Rodriguez and Kevin Holland preview their bout. UFC 279 stars open up at media day. Nate Diaz flexes for the camera.”
