Former UFC middleweight prospect Impa Kasanganay landed himself a PFL contract as a light heavyweight after producing the most impressive performance of the night on Week 7 of the PFL Challenger Series in Orlando, Florida.
Kasanganay featured in the main event of the four-fight card at Universal Studios, where he finished Egyptian contender Osama Elsaidy via first-round TKO to improve his career record to 11-3 and earn himself the split-decision vote from the celebrity panel of Tyron Woodley, Tim Kennedy and Randy Couture. Kasanganay also took the vote from the watching fans, as the 29-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina earned a spot on the promotion’s light heavyweight roster.
The co-main event saw Taylor Johnson pick up a first-round TKO of his own, as he finished Trey Williams via ground and pound to put himself in the frame for a possible contract.
The night also saw a pair of decision victories for Billy Elekana and Ronald Dunlap, who defeated Tristan Overvig and Monte Ogbonna-Morrison, respectively.
After all four bouts were completed, it came down to Kasanganay and Johnson, with the former getting the nod from both the panel and the fans to secure his spot in the PFL for 2023.
