Cedric Doumbe, the former Glory welterweight kickboxing champion, is now officially a PFL fighter.
The Cameroonian striker, who has 75 kickboxing victories and 45 knockouts to his name, has put pen to paper on a contract to join the PFL’s global roster.
It’s the latest acquisition by the innovative promotion, which crowns million-dollar champions each year as part of their unique season-based championship format.
The promotion, which has grown from the ashes of the now-defunct World Series of Fighting promotion, is now a clear and viable alternative for fighters looking for high-level competition. Now Doumbe joins the PFL’s welterweight roster as he looks to parlay his elite brand of striking to a championship-winning MMA career.
Doumbe’s signing was welcomed by the PFL’s president of fighter operations Ray Sefo.
“Cedric Doumbe is one of the greatest athletes in the world and a tremendous addition to the Professional Fighters League global roster,” he said.
“Cedric dominated the sport of kickboxing and is poised to do the same in MMA. He is one of the most talented fighters in the world and will make an immediate impact here in the PFL.”
Doumbe’s first public appearance on PFL duty will come in Paris, France, where he’s expected to attend the PFL Europe Playoffs on Saturday, September 30. No news regarding his first competitive appearance has been announced yet.
“I am a unique fighter joining a unique organization in the PFL,” said Doumbe.
“I look forward to great success in the PFL.”
