The PFL’s featherweight and light heavyweight playoffs will be contested in Texas, with the Boeing Center in San Antonio set to play host to the first leg of the PFL’s 2023 Playoffs on August 4.
The announcement was made by PFL officials, who revealed that the Boeing Center at Tech Point will be the host venue for the first event of the promotion’s playoff schedule, with the organization’s 145- and 205-pound divisions set to feature.
“The PFL is excited to bring our brand of MMA to Boeing Center at Tech Point and our fans in the great state of Texas,” said PFL CEO Peter Murray.
“The PFL’s unique season format provides fighters with a merit-based path to a world championship and $1 million prize. On August 4, PFL fans in San Antonio and around the world will see the best featherweight and light heavyweight action in combat sports.”
The featherweight division is currently headed by 2022 champion Brendan Loughnane, with former Brave CF champion Bubba Jenkin, PFL 2021 featherweight champion Movlid Khaybulaev, and Brazilian contender Gabriel Braga all heading into their second regular-season bouts in the playoff places.
The light heavyweight picture is less clear after a host of athletes failed anti-doping tests during the season.
The PFL’s 2022 light heavyweight champion Rob Wilkinson headed that list, along with Poland’s Krzysztof Jotko, Ireland’s Will Fleury, and Brazil’s Thiago Santos.
