Salt Lake City, Utah plays host to UFC 291, as the promotion’s BMF title returns with a fight that looks set to deliver another Octagon classic.
Former UFC interim lightweight champions Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje will face off in a huge rematch for the returning symbolic BMF belt, with the two fan-favorites set to throw down in a five-round main event title fight.
The co-main event also has championship ramifications, as former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and former middleweight champ Alex Pereira go toe to toe in a bout that could propel the winner into a fight for the light heavyweight title recently vacated by the injured Jamahal Hill.
Also set for action on a packed fight card is former welterweight title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, who faces the unpredictable, spectacular Brazilian Michel Pereira, while Tony Ferguson and Bobby Green will bring their unique brands of MMA violence in a lightweight matchup. Rounding out the main card is a welterweight bout between Michael Chiesa and Kevin Holland.
Ahead of the event, the UFC’s “Embedded” cameras are following the fighters behind the scenes as they work their way through fight week, as they arrive in Salt Lake City and go through their pre-fight media obligations before the weigh-ins and the final faceoffs ahead of fight night.
As described on the UFC’s official YouTube channel, on Episode 2, “Dustin Poirier does a grocery run. Stephen Thompson soaks away a tough workout. Kevin Holland stays sharp in Texas. Glover Teixeira grills for Alex Pereira. Jan Blachowicz cowboys up; Tony Ferguson trains as only he can.”
