Three-time World MMA Awards ‘Coach of the Year’ winner Greg Jackson is well-known for having perhaps the most calming presence of any fight coach in the game. But this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 42, Jackson implemented a particularly bizarre technique to help relax Russian fighter Rustam Khabilov between rounds.
Khabilov faced former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson in the main event on the promotion’s latest Fight Night card. The bout was the Greg Jackson fighter’s first time headlining a UFC card and, being against a former title holder, the stakes were high for Rustam.
So, presumably in an effort to help his fighter feel as calm and centred as possible when the pressure was on, Greg began speaking to him in broken English with a bad Russian accent. See and hear for yourself in the video below.
