Welterweight Brian Camozzi didn’t have to wait long to find out the identity of his latest UFC 213 opponent.
Today it was announced Chad Laprise will fill the void of Alan Jouban, sidelined with a broken foot, and oppose Camozzi on July 8 in Las Vegas.
Laprise, a 30-year-old from Ontario, Canada, joined the UFC in 2014, following a stint with Bellator, and won his first three fights with the organisation. Since then, however, he has found victories harder to come by and has suffered defeats to Francisco Trinaldo and Ross Pearson. Last time out, though, he got back on track with a first round knockout of Thibault Gouti in his native Canada.
Twenty-five-year-old Camozzi, meanwhile, an all-action fighter whose seven MMA wins have all come via knockout, suffered his first defeat in six last December when stopped in the second round by debutant Randy Brown. Keen to get back in the win column, Camozzi, 7-3, now has a new name and face to visualise ahead of his fight next month at the T-Mobile Arena.
