UFC featherweight Andre Fili still has every intention of competing on July 29 at UFC 214, despite being told his proposed opponent that night, Dooho Choi, will no longer be able to fight in Anaheim.
Thought to have suffered an injury, Choi has withdrawn from the Fili fight and will now look to make a return to the Octagon around October. Fili, meanwhile, isn’t going anywhere.
“Doesn’t matter,” he posted on social media. “I’m only focused on what I can control. I’ll be ready July 29th to beat someone up.”
Team Alpha Male’s Fili, 16-4, was last seen winning a decision against Hacran Dias at UFC Fight Night 96, a victory which erased some of the disappointment of a knockout loss to Yair Rodriguez in April 2016. As for Choi, 14-2, his last fight, in December, was a “Fight of the Year” against Cub Swanson at UFC 206. Fans have eagerly anticipated his return to the Octagon ever since.
Regrettably, the wait will go on.
