Misha Cirkunov’s submission victory over Jimmy Crute is nominated for the Submission of the Year in the 12th annual World MMA Awards.
On 14 September, 2019 Latvian-born Canadian Misha Cirkunov got back in the win column with a rare Peruvian Necktie submission against rising Australian prospect Jimmy Crute in front of his adopted countrymen and women in Vancouver, Canada.

In a back-and-forth contest that lasted less than a round, Cirkunov looked to be in serious danger as the Crute had reversed position on the ground to land a series of damaging ground and pound shots in an attempt to finish the fight.
Cirkunov seized on an opportunity to fight his way into a dominant position himself and amidst the scramble, he saw an opening for a head lock.
From there, he moved from a guillotine choke attempt to a rarely-seen Peruvian Necktie which forced the tap in spectacular style and handing Crute the first defeat of his career at the same time.
Is Misha Cirkunov’s submission win over Jimmy Crute your Submission of the Year?
