One of the most decorated amateur athletes in MMA has just turned professional.
Ramazan Gitinov, the Russian-born welterweight who captured three amateur world titles, plus four more gold medals in other major amateur tournaments, has officially signed for Bahrain-based promotion Brave CF.
The news was confirmed by Brave CF officials, who stated that Gitinov, who captured his world championship medals while competing for the Kingdom of Bahrain, had signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.
Gitinov’s stellar amateur career finished with a record of 33 wins, two losses, with the most recent of those defeats coming back in 2017. He is riding an incredible 30-fight win streak and hopes to continue that dominant form when he makes his professional debut for Brave CF later this year.
The switch from amateur to pro level will also bring a change of weight class for Gitinov, with the 26-year-old expected to compete in Brave CF’s 155-pound lightweight division.
