Patricio Pitbull become Bellator’s second two-weight champion, knocking out Michael Chandler
Patricio “Pitbull” Freire added the Bellator lightweight belt to his featherweight title after knocking out champion Michael Chandler in just 61 seconds at Bellator 221.
With a lot of trash talk going back and forth before their fight, Pitbull kept his composure to counter an advancing Chandler with a right hand behind the ear.
There was no coming back for Chandler. Freire made sure his rival was finished with a string of punches forcing referee Rob Madrigal to stop the fight.
Chandler protested the stoppage, but it appeared to be the right call.

Michael “Venom” Page, MVP, suffers knockout loss to Douglas Lima in Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix semi-final
Michael “Venom” Page, better known as “MVP”, has suffered his first loss in mixed martial arts.
MVP took on Douglas Lima in the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix in what was by far his toughest test to date.
The first round could easily be forgotten, but fight exploded into action in the second stanza.
MVP looked to have hurt Lima with a right hand, sending the Brazilian-born fighter into retreat.
But Page got reckless as he chased the finish, advancing on Lima with his guard down in typical fashion.
Lima swept MVP’s legs from under him with a nasty leg kick before smashing a big uppercut into his dome to send the Londoner crashing back onto the deck.
MVP was unable to defend himself from the resulting hammerfists delivered by Lima and the fight was rightly called.
Lima advances to the Bellator Welterweight Grand-Prix final and could have a second fight with champion Roy MacDonald in the offing. MacDonald is the man behind Lima’s only loss since 2015.

Jake Hager of Jack Swagger WWE fame submits T.J. Jones
Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger in the WWE, easily won his second professional mixed martial arts bout.
The decorated collegiate wrestler easily took T.J. Jones down to the floor and landed enough ground and pound to set his opponent up for a submission.
When Hager’s attempts at getting either a kimura or a keylock submission failed, he soon found an opportunity to snatch an arm triangle from mount.
Jones understandably tapped quickly, but Hager appeared to have kept a hold of his arm triangle a lot longer than he should despite referee Mike Beltran trying to prise him off Jones.
Regardless, it’s another win for Hager as he continues his journey as an MMA heavyweight.
