UK MMA veteran Colin ‘Freakshow’ Fletcher has had a mixed run since his UFC days but hopes a move to 170lb will enable him to put together his hottest streak yet.
“I’ve got two really important fights coming up for me in this pivotal part of my career, going back up to welterweight after some horrific weight cuts and injuries,” Fletcher told FO. “I feel this is a chance to really show the best of myself. But not being a lover of easy fights I got 15-0 Walter Gahadza at BAMMA 25 on May 14th then, six weeks later, I fight fellow UFC vet John Maguire at Made 4 the Cage.”
Freakshow has long been known as one of MMA’s more outlandish attractions and his personality stole the show when he competed on the UK vs. Australia The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes series. UK fans will be able to enjoy Colin’s antics once more when he features on Channel 4’s new Grayson Perry: All Man documentary tonight at 10pm.
But, getting back to the future of his fighting career, Fletcher isn’t looking for the easy road to success. Instead he wants to truly test himself and, of course, entertain the fans.
“I wanted two hard tests to see where I stand as a current martial artist and I’m sure both theses guys are going to be ultra-tough. But I’ve never felt so healthy fit and focused in years, and am relishing the challenges. And, as always, I’m planing some sweet-ass entrances.”
BAMMA 25 takes place May 14th at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, England.
