The LFA cage is set to return to southern California on June 23, with a new champion set to be crowned in Commerce.
LFA 161 will feature a battle for the interim flyweight title as the promotion looks to crown a champion to keep the 125-pound division moving in the absence of current champion Felipe Bunes.
The Commerce Casino & Hotel will play host to the event, with top American prospect Cody Davis and Brazilian contender Igor Siqueira set to face off for the interim strap. The event will stream live on UFC Fight Pass.
“We are excited to kick off our summer schedule by bringing a title fight to my home state of California at LFA 161,” said LFA CEO Ed Soares.
“The main event will see Los Angeles native Cody Davis face top Brazilian prospect Igor Siqueira for the LFA interim flyweight title. Davis has been impressive for us by racking up three dominant wins, while Siqueira is a regional champion in Mexico and trains with our current flyweight champion Felipe Bunes and our former bantamweight champion Leandro Higo.
“This will add another memorable chapter to the history of our storied flyweight division.”
Davis signed for LFA in 2022 and has gone 3-1 with the promotion. He’s currently riding a two-fight win streak, with both of those victories coming via first-round submission. His most recent win, at LFA 155 in March, saw him finish the previously undefeated Joseph Camacho via arm-triangle choke to earn himself a shot at the interim title.
He’ll face Siqueira, who will be making his LFA debut after amassing a career record of 9-1. The Pitbull Brothers prospect has won his last three, and is looking to make an instant impact on his first appearance inside the LFA cage as he bids to capture the interim version of the title currently held by his teammate Bunes.
