One of Europe’s fastest-rising promotions now has a solid broadcast footprint in the UK.
Oktagon MMA, based out of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, has inked a deal with UK broadcaster Channel 4, with live events and shoulder programming set to stream on Channel 4 and the Channel 4 Sports YouTube channel.
The deal is a timely one, with the promotion set to host its first UK show in November when they head to the AO Arena in Manchester for Oktagon 48, which will feature a host of UK fighters and European Oktagon stars.
The platform will also be the home for Oktagon’s two reality TV series aimed at the UK market.
“Stage to the Cage” will follow the fortunes of reality TV personality Jake Quickenden and stand-up comedian Paul Smith as they train ahead of a bout against each other on the Oktagon 48 card in November. The first three episodes are available to stream from Tuesday, September 5.
“Oktagon Challenge: England vs. Ireland” is a team-versus-team show in a similar vein to The Ultimate Fighter, but with more emphasis on the challenges the teams are put through. The challenges will look to take the two teams of MMA fighters out of their comfort zones as they battle head to head in team action before the individual fighters face off inside the Oktagon cage. Episodes will be available to stream later in September.
The platform will also host Oktagon’s live shows, with the first live event, Oktagon 46, streaming live from the Festhalle in Frankfurt, Germany, on September 16.
“Partnering with Channel 4, marking our debut in the UK is exciting news!” said Oktagon MMA co-owner, Pavol Neruda.
“We’re not just another MMA promotion; we tell stories, create documentaries, and produce TV shows that resonate with content on Channel 4. This collaboration is a testament to our shared values.
“We are proud to show viewers in the UK ‘Stage to the Cage’ and Oktagon Challenge: England vs. Ireland this autumn. These aren’t just shows; they’re a fresh take on MMA. Together with Channel 4, we’re eager to bring the fans unparalleled viewing experiences.”
A spokesman from Channel 4 stated, “We’re delighted to introduce Oktagon MMA to what is already a vibrant and thriving UK fight scene.
“They’ve shaken up Europe – these guys really know how to put on a show!”
