Jared Cannonier has been given a new opponent just days from a scheduled fight on Friday (July 7) at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale.
Cannonier, 9-2, was meant to fight Steve Bosse in a three-round light-heavyweight bout, but that will no longer go ahead. So in steps Nick Roehrick, an unbeaten fighter out of North Carolina who has accepted the fight on late-notice.
Undefeated in seven fights, Roehrick, 29, has two TKOs and a submission victory on his record and last fought in April, defeating Jesus Rivera in the very first round. This fight with Cannonier, 33, will mark his third fight of the year and also his first in the UFC.
Cannonier, meanwhile, is 2-2 in the UFC to date, having defeated Ion Cutelaba and Cyril Asker, but is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Brazilian Glover Teixeira. The man from Dallas was hoping to use Steve Bosse to get his record back on track. He will now look to do the same against a promotional newcomer.
The TUF 25 Finale goes down this Friday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by an intriguing lightweight battle between top contender Michael Johnson and former World Series of Fighting champion Justin Gaethje.
