UAE Warriors returns to action next week with a double-header of events, with two championships up for grabs in the second event of the weekend as Abu Dhabi gets set for a huge week of MMA action.
The action kicks off at the Jiu Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, October 28 with UAE Warriors 23: Arabia 5 set to showcase the best up-and-coming talent from the region.
Then, the following night, on Friday, October 29, UAE Warriors 24 returns to the same venue for a packed night of fights, culminating in a pair of championship bouts. The two shows will serve as the perfect build-up ahead of a stacked fight card at UFC 267, which takes place Saturday, October 30 at the Etihad Arena.
In the night’s main event at UAE Warriors 24, Brazilian UAE Warriors bantamweight champion Vinicius de Oliveira will put his belt on the line against EFC champion Sylvester Chipfumbu.
Oliveira (16-2) captured the title by knocking out Xavier Alaoui at UAE Warriors 18 and heads into next weekend’s title defence riding a five-fight winning streak.
He’ll take on Zimbabwe-born, South Africa-based Chipfumbu (7-2), who captured EFC championship gold with a decision victory over Faeez Jacobs in his last bout at EFC 85 in May this year. The 30-year-old challenger will be looking to make an instant impact on his UAE Warriors debut.
The co-main event will also see championship action, with South Korean featherweight champ Do Gyeom Lee looking to retain his title when he faces off against Titan FC champion Ali AlQaisi.
Lee (8-3) is making his return to action after more than a year away from the cage, and faces a stern challenge from an active, in-form contender.
Jordan’s AlQaisi (10-5) has UFC experience and, after claiming a first-round TKO victory on his UAE Warriors debut in June, captured the vacant Titan FC featherweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Andrew Whitney in August. Now “The Royal Fighter” is looking to add more gold to his collection by claiming the UAE strap in only his second appearance for the promotion.
