Conor McGregor’s return to the Octagon in his rematch with Dustin Poirier will have a limited number of fans in attendance on Fight Island.
In fact, the Abu Dhabi media office says that all three UFC events held on Yas Island in January will be open to fans.
On 16 and 20 January, there are two UFC Fight Night events headlined by fights between Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar, and Michael Chiesa and Neil Magny.
Then on 24 January, Poirier and McGregor will fight for a second time in the main event of UFC 257.
A tweet from the Abu Dhabi media office reads: “[Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi] is to host the third instalment of UFC Fight Island on Yas Island from 16 to 24 January, welcoming a limited number of spectators to the new Etihad Arena.
“The triple header will see three mega-fights, utilising Abu Dhabi’s proven ‘safe zone’ concept to protect the health and safety of all delegates, spectators, crew and media.”
Though everything has been amicable so far between the two, Poirier is seeking revenge against McGregor after suffering a first-round TKO defeat to the Irishman at UFC 178 in 2014.
