The main card of UFC 292 will see two of the toughest, longest-tenured contenders in the UFC middleweight division go toe to toe in a bout that looks sure to deliver an all-out war.
Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman is making his long-awaited return to action after suffering a horrific broken leg against Uriah Hall that left him out for a year. But, after a painstaking recovery and rehabilitation process, “The All-American” is back, and he’s set to face off against one of the toughest 185ers on the UFC roster, Brad Tavares.
Weidman was a dominant force in the UFC’s middleweight division through the first four years of his UFC career as he ran through the competition before shocking the world with a dramatic knockout of Anderson Silva to capture the middleweight title.
However, defeat to Luke Rockhold in his fourth title defense marked the start of a tough run for Weidman, who has lost six of his last eight in the Octagon.
Now back from his broken leg, Weidman is looking to make another run towards the top of the division, but will face a stern test against Tavares, who is looking to bounce back from his own tricky patch of form.
Someone’s luck is going to turn around in Boston, but which UFC veteran will be walking out of the cage with the win?
Ahead of the bout, the UFC’s Countdown cameras caught up with both fighters, and their teams, as they made their final preparations for their middleweight matchup. Check it out via the video player below.
