Saturday night on Fight Island, Joaquin Buckley secured his spot on UFC highlight reels for the rest of his life with a stunning knockout which is perhaps one of the best ever seen in mixed martial arts.
Impa Kasanganay, the unfortunate recipient of this spinning back kick to the face, was fighting competitively with Buckley to begin with.
The pair were trading tit-for-tat power strikes until Kasanganay blocked and caught an errant head kick from Buckley. What could have been an advantage for Kasanganay if he wanted to take the fight to the floor quickly turned into a monumental disadvantage.
With one leg stuck in the hands of Kasanganay, Buckley immediately rotated and unleashed a spectacular spinning back kick which landed flush on his opponent’s face.
No follow-up shots were required as Buckley was rendered unconscious immediately, falling backwards to the canvas.
Not a bad way to earn your first victory in the UFC. Buckley moves to 11-3 in his MMA career – eight of those wins coming by knockout.
