After returning to winning ways in ONE Championship in his last outing, flyweight slugger Woo Sung Hoon is looking to double down when he steps into action at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov.
The South Korean standout faces China’s Hu Yong this Saturday, 10th June, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, and their battle promises to be fireworks, given both stars’ momentum on the global stage.
Woo’s last appearance saw him finish former ONE flyweight world title challenger Yuya Wakamatsu in the first round at ONE 163 in November.
The career-best performance and victory came as a much-needed response to the setback he suffered against Windson Ramos earlier in 2022, and it placed Woo on a list of fighters to watch in the new year.
His 2023 campaign will kick off in style this weekend, but his upcoming foe finds himself on a similar trajectory in the Singapore-based promotion.
No stranger to ONE fans, Hu was a blistering five-fight winning streak from his debut in in 2019 right up to when he met Wakamatsu at ONE: Winter Warriors in December 2021.
The Chinese star suffered his first promotional defeat at the hands of the Japanese veteran that evening, but he vowed to respond emphatically when he returned in his next bout.
Hu did just that when he met former two-time ONE flyweight world champion Geje Eustaquio at ONE 164 a year later. Like Woo, “Wolf Warrior” scored a first-round win against his fabled foe to reassert his position in the stacked division.
Both men will be out to boost their stock when they take each other on this weekend, and fans can expect them to leave everything in the ring at ONE Fight Night 11.
